シンガーへの楽曲提供、CM・テレビ・舞台・映画音楽の制作からクラブミュージックまで、幅広く活動。130万枚を超えるセールスを記録した秋川雅史『千の風になって』のサウンドプロデュースを手がけるなど、クラシカル・クロスオーバーの分野でも活躍している。自身のチルアウト系ユニット「AMBROZIA」でも活動中。

1986年よりAKAIとアドバイザー契約を結び、Sampler S-612やS900の音源開発に携わる。さらに、ビデオカセットとミキサーを一体化したMG1212をプロデュースし、ヒップホップやブレイクビーツの発展にも大きく貢献した。

映画では、勝新太郎監督・脚本・主演の『座頭市』、藤沢周平原作・豊川悦司主演の『必死剣 鳥刺し』、アニメ『Black Lagoon』『Hells Angels』、NHK Eテレの『わしも』（作：宮藤官九郎／絵：安齋肇）などの音楽を担当。

また、極限までシンプルでありながら奥深い表現が可能な篠笛に魅了され、篠笛奏者としても活動。日本コロムビアより『篠笛で聴く癒しのクラシック』をリリース。YouTubeチャンネル『奏王』では、国内のヒット曲を篠笛でカバーした演奏を300曲以上公開し、現在も更新を続けている。

長年にわたり思索を深めてきた立体音響制作にも注力し、鹿島建設のOPSODIS1公式デモンストレーション音源を制作。独自の視点から、睡眠誘導・瞑想・脳機能の改善効果を追求した立体音響作品を、「Immersive Deep Trance Project」名義でYouTubeにて公開中。

Immersive Sound Designer / Composer / Arranger / Shinobue Flutist

Edison Watanabe has worked across a wide musical spectrum—from writing for vocalists and producing music for commercials, television, film, and theater, to creating club music. He produced the sound for Masafumi Akikawa’s best-selling single “Sen no Kaze ni Natte” (Over 1.3 million copies sold) and has made significant contributions to the classical crossover genre. He is also active with his chillout unit, AMBROZIA.

Since 1986, he has collaborated with AKAI as a technical advisor, contributing to the development of samplers such as the S-612 and S900. He also produced the MG1212, a combined video cassette recorder and mixer, which greatly influenced the early hip-hop and breakbeat scenes.

In film and animation, his music credits include Zatoichi (directed, written, and starred by Shintaro Katsu), Sword of Desperation (based on the novel by Shuhei Fujisawa, starring Etsushi Toyokawa), and anime titles such as Black Lagoon, Hells Angels, and NHK E-TV’s Washimo (written by Kankuro Kudo, illustrated by Hajime Anzai).

Captivated by the expressive purity of the Japanese bamboo flute, shinobue, he has pursued its performance with passion. His album “Healing Classics on Shinobue” was released by Nippon Columbia. On his YouTube channel “奏王 (So-Ou),” he has published over 200 covers of Japanese hit songs performed on shinobue, and continues to release new work.

Watanabe has long explored immersive sound design and created official demo content using OPSODIS1, a spatial sound system developed by Kajima Corporation. Under the project name Immersive Deep Trance Project, he publishes works on YouTube focused on sleep guidance, meditation, and cognitive enhancement through original immersive audio techniques.

At the International Modern Hospital Show 2025, he is participating in the “Happiness Room” exhibit, a joint initiative by the Happiness Foundation and Panasonic, where he has created and designed original binaural music using OPSODIS1.

篠笛とは

篠笛とは篠竹を乾燥し割れ止めに籐という細い蔓を巻き、漆を塗るだけの簡素な構造が特徴です。平安時代にはすでに広く使われていた笛で、上流階級で使われてきた「龍笛（りゅうてき）」や「能管（のうかん）」と比較して、篠笛は庶民階級の間で愛好されていました。祭囃子や民謡等の古典調律と洋楽器とも合奏可能な歌用調律の篠笛があり、EDISON（エジソン）の使用する篠笛は唄用調律されたものです。素朴な竹に７穴を開けただけのシンプルな楽器ですので温度、湿度等の自然環境の影響を受けて音程が微妙に変化し、演奏のコントロールが難しくなる場合もありますが、それがまた味わいとなるのです。
